Edward Woods Estate near Shepherds Bush in London has seen significant investment over the last six years to regenerate the area. Following major refurbishment to improve energy efficiency and extend the life of the buildings, London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham plans to upgrade the car parks, lighting and landscaping around the 40,000m2 neighbourhood.

To provide accurate plans of the existing buildings and landscape, Terrain Surveys were commissioned by GDS Chartered Surveyors to undertake a topographical survey of the whole site, together with detailed underground utility services. Three 26 storey tower blocks and four further 3-4 storey residential blocks were surveyed within two weeks.

To give the client a complete record for use in managing future maintenance work, Terrain also prepared a 3D BIM Revit Model of the whole site and the exterior of all the buildings. This included accurate models of all windows, doors, cladding panels and finishes. The model was supplied to Hammersmith and Fulham in Revit within eight weeks of commencing the project.
