Topographical Survey in St. Albans, Hertfordshire

Overview

Terrain Surveys made the short journey from our Welwyn, Hertfordshire head office to a residential area in St Albans to undertake a topographical survey for our client, consulting structural and civil engineering firm, Austin Trueman Associates.

The Challenge

The site, peacefully located beside the River Ver, comprises of several residential blocks. Prior to undertaking this topographical survey, we were provided with a location plan which included a sizeable car park area. A team of two of our experienced topographical surveyors attended site and, over a period of two days and using a total station, the team captured all features, both natural and man-made, such as boundaries, vegetation and building outlines. Spot levels were surveyed at 10m intervals and we were to take particular care when working close to the river which flows through St Albans as is one of only around 200 chalk rivers in the world.

The Outcome

Once the team had captured all data from site, they returned to our Hertfordshire head office to produce this 2D topographical survey, measured to RICS guidelines. This topographical survey was completed on-time to the agreed budget and caused minimal disruption to the residents. The survey was delivered to Austin Trueman Associates in 2D DWG format.
